On 5 June 2020, Lovelyn was invited to do a virtual assembly with the learners and staff and Roedean School in Johannesburg. In this very short assembly, they briefly covered topics like #BlackLivesMatter and #AllLivesMatter; Lovelyn discussed intergenerational trauma and why the murder of #GeorgeFloyd in the USA is deeply connected with the murder of #CollinsKhosa in South Africa. Lovelyn also tried to answer questions about what we can do to ease the burden of emotional labour often placed on Black people and People of Colour in general to explain concepts when topics about race are discussed.
It was a pleasure for Lovelyn to spend her morning with Roedean.
We hope you will find this video recording of the assembly insightful too.
